The province holds the Guinness World Record for the world’s longest oyster grill.

The name of the festival comes from the name of the river Sibuguey, from which the name of the province is also derived. Sibug means to move forward and sibugay means a place where rivers meet. The festival celebrates the unity and progress of the province and its people.
